She's a pretty average sized kid. Her verbal skills are a little above average according to the doctor. (This is not news to us!) He said she should have about 50-100 words in her vocabulary and be putting together 2-4 word sentences at this age.
She definitely knows a lot more than 100 words! She picks up several new words a day and immediately tries to experiment with using them. Phrase of the day: "Hey girlfriend!" She is pretty good at using present tense and past tense verbs. How is this relevant? It isn't. I'm just learning about language acquisition in grad school and have accidentally been paying a lot of attention to the order in which she learns to speak.
She is able to recognize most colors, shapes, and some upper case letters: L, O, A, B, C, D. She can draw circles and lines and is right-handed. She likes to read books and actually appears to be listening to the stories now rather than just looking at pictures and pointing things out. She likes to watch Caillou, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sesame Street, and Super Why.
We started a craft area in our house and she loves to color! Good for her as I was never an artistic kid. She also can pedal her tricycle, blow bubbles, and climb up and slide down her slide. She also likes to pick out her clothes, shoes, and coat each day.
We just love hanging out with her! She's pretty cool.
